History
The Hotel Washington was built in 1917 by local developer Harry Bralove. It was designed by architect Jules Henri de Sibour, who also designed other notable buildings in Washington D.C. The hotel quickly became a popular destination for politicians, diplomats, and celebrities, due to its prime location and luxurious amenities. In fact, the hotel was known as the "Official Hotel of the Presidential Inauguration" for many years.
Over the years, the hotel has undergone several renovations and changes in ownership. In 1998, it was acquired by the Westin hotel chain, which invested millions of dollars in renovating and restoring the historic property. In 2007, the hotel was sold again and underwent another extensive renovation, which included a complete overhaul of the guest rooms, lobby, and restaurants.
Facilities
The Hotel Washington features 355 guest rooms and suites, all of which are elegantly furnished and equipped with modern amenities, such as flat-screen TVs, high-speed internet access, and plush bedding. The hotel also offers a range of facilities, including a fitness center, a business center, and several meeting and event spaces.
The hotel's signature restaurant is called the "Pinea," which serves contemporary Mediterranean cuisine and features an extensive wine list. The hotel also has a rooftop bar and lounge, called the "Top of the Gate," which offers stunning views of the city skyline and the White House.
The Hotel Washington is also known for its luxurious ballroom, which can accommodate up to 400 guests for weddings, galas, and other events. The ballroom features a grand staircase, crystal chandeliers, and ornate decorations, making it one of the most sought-after event spaces in Washington D.C.
Overall, the Hotel Washington is a luxurious and historic property that offers guests an unforgettable experience in the heart of the nation's capital. Come check it out for yourself! (And enjoy a memorable magic and comedy show while you're here!)
